All over print
In streetwear fashion, an all-over print is a type of print that consists of a pattern that is repeated over the entire surface of a garment. The pattern is on both the front and the back.
Modern solid printing was made possible by the invention of sublimation printing in 1957. The commercial process was rather developed by Noel de Plasse, in France.
The process is similar to dye diffusion: a graphic is printed on a sheet of high-strength paper and then transferred to a fabric using high heat and pressure. The heat converts the solid dye particles into a gas by sublimation. The liquid phase is skipped as the physical change is immediate. This immediacy bonds the released chemicals to the polyester fibres. Unlike screen printing and digital printing directly onto garments, this printing process absorbs the dye directly into the fabric. The design is printed on 100% polyester material.
